1ère ETAPE

Le peloton piégé par l’échappée.<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Ce n’est pas souvent que l’échappée parvient à devancer le peloton lancé à sa poursuite. Ce fut le cas aujourd’hui et je m’en réjouis. D’autant que dans l’échappée se trouvait le Baroudeur N° 1, j’ai nommé Jens VOIGT. Ce n’est pas lui qui en a profité, mais l’opportuniste (dans le bon sens du terme) De GENDT de Vacansoleil. Ce dernier a attaqué dans les dernières centaines de mètres pour conserver un mince avantage sur la meute. Jérémy ROY, qui a réagit un peu tardivement à l’attaque de DE GENDT, conserve cependant une belle deuxième place.<o:p></o:p>

Il nous étonnera toujours, ce Voeckler. Toujours à l'attaque, se donnant à fond, fin tacticien. Quel mental ! Avec un peu plus de physique, il aurait été le champion d'une génération, à l'égal d'un Hinault, d'un Fignon, d'un Anquetil. Chapeau ! et propre en plus, selon ses pairs.

5^ème étape<o:p></o:p>

Cette étape, avec la dure ascension du col de la Mûre, à 9 kms de l’arrivée, a été déterminante. Le futur vainqueur de Paris Nice se trouve parmi les 23 coureurs ci après, qui formaient le premier groupe, celui qui a basculé en tête au sommet de cette dernière difficulté. Le vainqueur final sera probablement celui qui s’imposera dans le CLM de demain. Je vois bien l’Allemand Tony MARTIN s’imposer, lui, le dauphin de CANCELLARA sur les chronos. A moins que KLODEN, qui est aussi un très bon spécialiste, parvienne à le devancer, mais je ne le crois pas. Tony MARTIN est un « fioriclasse », jeune et plein d’avenir. Il ne laissera probablement pas passer l’occasion d’accrocher cette belle victoire à son palmarès.<o:p></o:p>

On y voit plus clair. Dans cette liste se trouvent d’autres excellents spécialistes de l’effort solitaire. En premier lieu Bradley WIGGINS et Michael ROGERS (ex Champion du Monde de la spécialité). Il faudra compter aussi sur Levi LEIPHEIMER, Maxime MONFORT, Luis Léon SANCHEZ et sur ? et sur ?.......notre « petit » français Jean Christophe PERAUD, qui risque se s’intercaler parmi tous ces gens huppés. Tiens, sans le vouloir, je viens peut être de faire (dans le désordre) le classement de l’étape de demain. A voir… <o:p></o:p>

Tony MARTIN n’a pas failli et son prestigieux adversaire (WIGGINS) n’a pu le dominer. Tous les deux sont de redoutables spécialistes. Rien ne bouge, le vélo parfaitement en ligne, les épaules et le bassin parfaitem

ent fixés pour aucune déperdition d’énergie. Tony MARTIN pédale plus en force que Bradley WIGGINS, qui pédale à une vélocité plus conventionnelle (100 tours minutes). Pourquoi Tony MARTIN va-t-il plus vite alors, s’il ne respecte pas la sacrosainte règle des 100 rotations ? Tout simplement parce qu’il a plus de force que les autres et que cette force est parfaitement exploitée. Dans les bosses, par contre, il est trés véloce, et il compense l'handicap d'une corpulence plutôt massive en tournant les jambes plus vite que les autres. Tout un savoir faire, résultat d'un important travail à l'entraînement, à n'en pas douter.

Richie PORTE est 3^ème. Pas une surprise. C’est peut être un futur vainqueur de grand tour car il grimpe comme les tous meilleurs. Mais il est coéquipier de CONTADOR et si ce dernier fait le Tour il sera réduit au rôle de coéquipier de luxe dans la montagne. <o:p></o:p>

Jean Christophe PERAUD, 5^ème, s’affirme progressivement comme le meilleur coureur français de courses à étapes comportant des cols et un CLM. Sur cette épreuve il est loin devant les CASAR, CHAVANEL, FEDRIGO, PINEAU. Avec Jérôme COPPEL (absent sur Paris Nice), il sera le meilleur français au départ du prochain TOUR pour le classement général.<o:p></o:p>

Un mot sur deux jeunes coureurs, de stature longiligne, au style semblable, pur et élégant, figurant, sans surprise pour moi dans les 10 premiers : Rein TAARAMAE, 23 ANS, Cofidis, devient avec la maturité, un coureur de classe, alliant moyens élevés et ambition. Il passe bien les bosses. Deviendra-t-il le bon coureur de grand tour qu’il espère. Le second, Tejay VAN GARDEREN, 22 ans, est de la même lignée. Je crois même qu’il a un potentiel global plus important, surtout dans les cols, où il a déjà démontré de réelles possibilités (Dauphiné Libéré de l’an dernier) Un régal pour les yeux quand on le voit (hier) étirer le peloton pour son « patron » Tony MARTIN et éparpiller sur la route 80% de l’effectif, sans sembler être à sa limite. Je le vois monter très haut… <o:p></o:p>

Les jeux sont-ils faits et Tony MARTIN a-t-il déjà gagné ? C’est probable sur le papier. Mais il devra, avec son équipe répondre à de nombreuses attaques dans les bosses, les deux prochains jours, notamment des deux SANCHEZ, Samuel, Champion Olympique et Luis-Léon, déjà vainqueur de Paris Nice (lui aussi un puriste qui ré

7ème étape<o:p></o:p>

Une étape difficile aujourd’hui, avec un final sous la pluie, sur des routes glissantes. On a assisté à quelques chutes apparemment sans gravité. Un coup de chapeau à Karsten KROON (BMC) qui a fait un numéro. Seul survivant d’une échappée, il s’est fait reprendre à l’attaque du dernier tour d’une quinzaine de km, après s’être battu jusqu’au bout, sans jamais renoncer.<o:p></o:p>

KROON repris, après quelques escarmouches sans conséquences, on a assisté à une superbe attaque de Rémy DI GREGORIO qui a immédiatement creusé l’écart, sans toutefois dépasser les 20 secondes. Je ne lui donnais aucune chance d’aller au bout, pensant qu’il serait irrémédiablement repris dans les 2 derniers km de l’ascension, lorsque le premier groupe allait embrayer pour se disputer la victoire. Et bien non ! d’une part il était fort et il n’a jamais faibli et d’autre part, le premier peloton était « fripé » par cette mauvaise journée, ne comportant aucune pointure capable de dynamiter le dernier km à la manière d’un GILBERT ou d’un CUNEGO (qui se trouvent tous les deux sur Tireno Adriatico)<o:p></o:p>

Belle victoire pour ce garçon, qui se cherchait depuis son passage chez les pros, à 20 ans, à la FDJ. Une seule victoire à son palmarès (étape au Tour de l’Avenir il y a 3 ou 4 ans), alors qu’on lui prédisait un brillant avenir. Resté en bons termes avec la FDJ, il a décidé de se remettre en cause chez Astana. Il réussit de brillante façon, on vient de le voir. Véritable marseillais, issu de Carnoux, il est sorti des effectifs du VC LA POMME et il y a quantité de marseillais qui, aujourd’hui, ont du crier devant leur poste de télé (comme moi d’ailleurs)<o:p></o:p>

J’ai eu l’occasion de faire un stage de formation entraîneur avec lui à ses débuts professionnels. Il était à l'époque très dilettante, saisissant la moindre occasion pour déconner, en salle de cours et sur le vélo. Et il donnait l'impression de ne pas être très concerné par les objectifs du stage dont il fut la véritable attraction. Aujourd’hui je suis content pour lui, car il démontre qu’il a travaillé cet hiver, qu’il a de la classe, et qu’il sait aller à la bagarre. J'espère avoir l'occasion de reparler de lui. Il n'a encore que 25 ans et il semble bien reparti...

Pour le classement général, rien n’a changé, si ce n’est la disparition de Luis Léon SANCHEZ, pas à l’aise dans le froid et sous la pluie. Demain, Tony MARTIN devrait résister aux attaques de ses adversaires, si ces derniers osent en porter. En fait, je pense que seul Samuel SANCHEZ, avec son équipe Euskatel, est capable de mettre Tony MARTIN en difficulté. Mais aura-t-il envie d’attaquer avec cette météo exécrable ?<o:p></o:p>

VOECKLER est décidemment un vrai guerrier. Vraiment pas du genre à rester dans les roues, à en faire le minimum et à profiter du train des autres. Il a compris que les victoires, les belles, il faut aller les chercher en se « crachant dans les mains », en allant dans ses propres limites et en y persévérant. Ses victoires ont été toutes acquises selon ces principes.<o:p></o:p>

Aujourd’hui encore, il est à l’arrivée, le meilleur et le seul rescapé d’une échappée matinale, de 10 coureurs, qui, les uns après les autres, ont renoncé ou ont été lâchés. Et c’est en solitaire cette fois qu’il a eu le plaisir de savourer sa victoire. Il a du caractère, il est quelquefois difficile à vivre et exigeant parait-il, mais c’est un vrai champion, qui mérite le respect de ses pairs (il l’a) et celui du grand public.<o:p></o:p>

Tony MARTIN a assuré pour le Général, et JC PERAUD, un autre dur au mal, comme VOECKLER, s’est assuré une splendide 6ème place finale, jamais dans la facilité d’après ce que j’ai vu. <o:p></o:p>
